On Wednesday, July 2, 2008, God dispatched on an angel to Calvary Hospital (Bronx, NY) to bring his beloved son Larry D. Basnight from his earthly home to his eternal home. Larry D. Basnight was born on Sept 9, 1956 to james and Ethel Basnight in Chesapeake Virginia. He received his education in Chesapeake and successfully completed the necessary requirements and graduated from Great Bridge High School in 1975. There after he relocated to Bronx, New York. It was there that he met the woman of his life, M. Patricia Ingram who he called “Bae.” It was evident that they were inseparable and they were joined together in Holy Matrimony on September 3, 1983.
He was truly a family man. He was not only dedicated to his wife; he was faithful in taking care of his children. He worked for many years at Yonkers Raceway and later worked at Sound View Family Day Care Center to provide for his family. Larry, who was known to many as Ni-Ni and others as Dad; did not preach in the pulpit or user at the church doors his ministry was so much more. He touched the lives of everyone that he came in contact with. Always sharing words of wisdom with a finishing touch of his charm and beautiful smile. He was so humble, kind and showed forth such humility even through some tough times.
He labored and was always willing to lend a helping hand to many ministries; just to name a few; Faith Mission Ministries, Refuge of Hope & Deliverance, and New Life Worship & Praise Cathedral. He would do anything, cook, paint, sweep or mop the floors. He worked diligently without a single complaint. He served God and showed that he was a servant of the most high through his walk in life. He accepted the right hand of fellowship with New St. John’s /New Emmanuel B.C. to be apart of the body of Christ under the leadership of Rev. Bennie Wright, Jr.
Larry D. Basnight, the greatest husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend will always be remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He leaves to mourn and cherish his precious memories, his loving wife M. Patricia Ingram-Basnight, five daughters; Montra, Sharinatl, Lauree, Cherri, and Tanesha; three sons Bunyon, Larry Jr, and Vacory; his four sisters Joyce B.
